It's a tale as old as time - Dating Apps.
We had our first date the day after Christmas. 🤶 🎅 at the Crown Pub in Fort Collins, where we spent over 5 hours and were asked (told) to leave so the staff could go home. Whoops! We had a great first date and went out a few more times that same week.
Soon after that, the two of us and our pups - Berkley and Gilbert were inseparable. We quickly started doing home projects together - namely a Studio Apartment in the backyard and new closets. #CedarWood
We knew there was something special about us and within a month of meeting and booked a week-long getaway to Spain that Summer. We had a great time!

I really wanted to surprise Michele and didn't want to do anything too cliche - so I booked a trip to Mexico to ask her a very important question. I realized soon after booking the trip that that's pretty cliche AND Michele just might expect the proposal in Mexico, so I called an audible.
A few weeks before the Mexico trip, we went to Las Vegas to see some friends, check out a music festival, and see one of our favorite DJs, Sofi Tukker. I slid the ring into my pocket and off we go to spend the evening wandering the strip while I looked for the perfect, quiet, intimate spot to pop the question. Spoiler - there are no quiet, intimate spots on the strip - The ring would have to wait.
Michele and I went back to our Hotel to rest and rejuvenate before heading out to see the show - and it dawned on me - this is a quiet and intimate place, and I'm sure this will fit the bill for a surprise.
I was sitting down and Michele was on her back with her eyes closed and feet elevated against the wall (swollen ankles, iykyk). We were sharing about our day and our plans when I interjected, as if planning for our next meal or location on the strip, "Hey, I have a proposal for you".
Michele said, "OK Shoot".
I said, "We should get married".
Michele, still with her eyes closed and feet elevated chuckled and said, "Yeah we should!" She thought I was just dreaming out loud about it again, as we had many times before.
I said, "We really should, I'm serious". I pulled the ring out and asked her the big question, "Will you marry me?"
Michele opened her eyes and they immediately expressed the surprise and excitement I was hoping for. She exclaimed, "Yes of course!" and excitedly put the ring on.Â
*MISSION SUCCESSFUL*
After that, we both had all the energy to go to the show and dance the night away. We had a great rest of the weekend in Vegas and got to planning the wedding soon after.
**Oh and, we still went to Mexico - we've just rebranded it as to an engagement moon.
